The Best Easy Homemade Hot Chocolate

This recipe is one of the best and the easiest. Make this on a cold day after being outside in the snow!

Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk higher fat content is better
  • 2 oz. Baker's semi sweet chocolate chopped or 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 handful mini marshmallows or whipped cream optional

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it begins to steam, whisking frequently to prevent burning.
  2. Add the chocolate and whisk until completely melted and well combined (there will be little flecks of chocolate at first; whisk until those are no longer visible and the mixture is very smooth).
  3. Stir in the vanilla, and whisk until well combined. Pour into mugs, and serve with marshmallows or whipped cream. Serve immediately.
