Ingredients

  • 2 c. strawberries washed
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 tsp. corn starch mixed with 2 tsp water

Instructions

  1. Place the berries, 1/4 cup of water, and sugar in a saucepan and cook until boiling and the berries are soft.  Stir in the lemon juice.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix the corn starch with water to make a paste; add this to the boiling fruit mixture, stirring as you pour it in.

  3. Cook 1 more minute, until thick.  Remove from heat, cool, and refrigerate.  Serve cold.

Recipe Notes

When you're finished cooking the sauce, pour it slowly into a glass bowl and cover it by setting a piece of plastic wrap directly on top of the sauce.  This will keep a "Skin" from forming on the top as it cools; this can also be done with homemade pudding.
