Today I’m going to share my simple Strawberries ‘N’ Cream Jello recipe; a quick, easy dessert or snack for summer gatherings. It is the perfect recipe for the strawberry lover in your family, using the fresh strawberries, creamy strawberry jello, and whipped cream on top.
These strawberry jello cups can be made in mason jars, plastic cups, individual glass bowls, or one large serving bowl; however you do it, these creamy, cool strawberry desserts are a winner every time!

How to make strawberries N cream jello
Here’s a breakdown of how to make this delicious strawberry jello dessert! You can print these directions with all of the recipe notes and specific amounts from the printable recipe card near the end of the post.
- Wash and chop the strawberries; place the sliced strawberries into cups or a medium sized glass serving bowl.
- In a large bowl, dissolve jello packages in 1-1/2 cups of water (boiling hot water); make sure this is well combined so that the strawberry gelatin crystals are no longer visible.
- Whisk in the sour cream until smooth, add the juice concentrate, and whisk to combine.
- Pour the jello mixture over the chopped strawberries, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge until set, at least 2-4 hours.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the cream with 1 tsp. sugar until stiff peaks form. Spoon over jello cups just before serving, and garnish with fresh mint, oregano, or rosemary. You can also garnish with fresh fruit, if desired.
The best way to make and serve individual jello cups
One of my favorite ways to make this strawberry dessert is in individual cups (as pictured) for special occasions. I like to use mason jars, but you can also make them in individual small disposable plastic cups, for an easy grab-n-go dessert with minimal cleanup.
To make individual jello cups, I recommend lining all of the cups up on a baking tray. Fill the cups with jello, and refrigerate the whole tray all together. If you need to make lots of gelatin desserts for your event, you can stack trays of jello on top of the cups of the tray beneath it, making room for a whole lotta jello in the fridge at one time!

- Weddings

How to make thicker jello
The key to making really thick jello is to reduce the amount of liquid. For this recipe, reduce the water by 1/2 cup if you like a really nice thick jello (rather than the creamy texture of this recipe).

Recipe variations
Jello recipes are some of the easiest for making substitutions, and this one is no different! Obviously, subbing out the strawberry ingredients will also change the outcome of this recipe (and eliminate the strawberry jello flavor), but I wanted you to see how great this recipe for making adjustments. Here are some suggestions for what you can do!
- For the Jello: You can substitute any red berry jello (such as cherry jello or raspberry jello) for the strawberry jello in this recipe.
- Juice concentrate: Use any type of red berry juice concentrate for the juice in this recipe, or just use regular juice (instead of concentrate) instead.
- Sour cream: You can substitute yogurt for the sour cream in this recipe, or heavy cream if you reduce the water in the recipe by 1/2 cup.
- Strawberries: Obviously it won’t be strawberries n cream jello anymore if you omit the strawberries, but you can of course use any type of fresh berry in this recipe and find that it’s still delicious!
- Whipping cream: Try using cool whip (whipped topping) in place of the whipping cream on top!
Why you will love this recipe
This easy recipe is bound to become a family favorite. It’s an easy, homemade jello dessert recipe made with simple ingredients and very little effort; plus, it’s beautiful, delicious, and easy to customize. A light dessert with strawberry flavor (and creamy texture) is really hard not to love!
You can easily make this jello ahead of time (as you would any other jello salad recipe), keeping it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve it.
You will need:
- Ingredients (see recipe card)
- Large mixing bowl
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Large whisk
- Spatula
- Paring knife (for chopping the strawberries)
- Cutting board
- Medium serving bowl, cups, or 8oz mason jars for serving

- 1 c. raspberry or cranberry juice concentrate
- 1-1/2 c. fresh strawberries chopped
- 1/2 c. whipping cream
- 1 tsp sugar
- 8 leaves Fresh mint oregano, or rosemary to garnish
Instructions
-
Wash and chop the strawberries; divide into 8 cups or place into a medium sized glass serving bowl.
-
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve jello packages in 1-1/2 c. boiling water; make sure this is well combined so that the gelatin crystals are no longer visible.
-
Whisk in the sour cream until smooth, add the juice concentrate, and whisk to combine.
-
Pour the jello mixture over the chopped strawberries, cover, and chill in the fridge until set, at least 2-4 hours.
Tip: I put my cups into a 9×13 baking pan, covered the whole set of them with plastic, and then let them set in the fridge overnight.
-
Using an electric mixer, beat the cream with 1 tsp. sugar until stiff peaks form. Spoon over jello cups just before serving, and garnish with fresh mint, oregano, or rosemary.
Recipe Notes
This recipe makes a smooth, creamy jello. If you like your jello a little on the thicker side, try dissolving the jello in 1 c. boiling water instead of 1-1/2.
