Chocolate! [Review and Giveaway]

Uncategorized / Tuesday, July 10th, 2012

Today I’m going to post about one of my favorite things:  Chocolate!

I’ve been wanting to write about this for three reasons:

A) Because.  People like chocolate.
B) Because my family owns a chocolate company, and I make a lot of the chocolate, often.
And
C) Because I’ve really been wanting to buy these specialty organic chocolate bars for a long time, and I never had a good excuse.  :-[|)  Until now.

All I had to do was tell myself that buying them and tasting them was for a good cause (keeping my blog updated), and voila!  I pulled out my purchase card and bought them, *almost* completely guilt-free.  😉

Now, just to share the joy a little, I’ve decided to do ANOTHER free giveaway!  In addition to The One Already Running, of course.  And as usual, all you have to do to enter is share the picture I post of these chocolates on Facebook (must be shared from the Sugar and Spice Facebook Page), or blog about it and send me the link.

What will you win?  4 organic chocolate bars (the ones pictured below), 1 package of peanut brittle, AND 1 kind of Sweet Somethings fudge, in the flavor of your choice.  This is $24 value!  So don’t forget to share… And I hope you win!  The contest closes on August 7, 2012.  I will post the winner on Facebook, as well as on the blog!

Now to elaborate on the treats.  To start off, let me introduce you to Sweet Somethings.  Sweet Somethings  is a chocolate company, owned by my family.  Originally, it was the idea of my older sister Deborah, who decided that our fudge recipe was just too good to keep to ourselves.  So, since we were already working on several other entrepreneurial ideas at the time, we just added this one to the mix– and it was a hit!  The business has been running since 2003, with all of my siblings and myself being involved in one way or another… We travel around selling our chocolates in craft shows, or by just staying put and selling it online.  It’s good stuff.  Today, I’m going to introduce you to a few of our products– my personal favorites.  There’s something on the website for everyone, including Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge and Chocolate Licorice Fudge— But the ones I’m posting today are the ones I like most, so I’ve decided to feature them here, along with a little note about our chocolate wedding favors.

Apricot Almond Fudge

Dark chocolate with apricot flavor, dried apricot chunks, and bits of almond.  So good!  I was surprised to find this as a favorite, but it definitely is– A must try, as far as I am concerned.

Coconut Fudge

Possibly my all-time favorite.  I love coconut, but especially with chocolate.  The taste of this is similar to coconut macaroons, dipped in chocolate.

Fruit and Nut Fudge

Inspired by fruit cake for the holidays, this is a blend of different dried fruits and nuts, with a hint of brandy essential oil to accent the combination of flavors.

Dark Chocolate Truffles

Smooth dark chocolate covered in a hard chocolate shell.  De-lish.  And so pretty.

Chunky Chocolate Peanut Brittle

This is a best-seller– buttery peanut brittle, with chocolate and peanut butter swirled on top.

Wedding Favors

This is one area of our business that we haven’t put a lot of effort into promoting… But we’re wanting to start that more, for sure!  Chocolate is such a great gift anyway, and as a wedding or party favor– well, you can’t get much better!  We have a whole bunch of little boxes to choose from, and you can put pretty much anything in them… I just liked these little pink purses, so that’s why I’ve chosen to picture them here.  Aren’t they pretty?

And now, the organic chocolate bars!  I’m actually not going to say much about these… except that I LOVE the packaging, and as far as I can tell, the descriptions of the flavors on the packaging are pretty much spot-on.  I love the unique, interesting flavors they have available.  And these are just a small sampling of the variety!

Don’t forget to enter the contest… And again, thanks for stopping in!
