Today I want to share with you guys this super-simple breakfast idea for yogurt breakfast bowls.
My favourite times as a kid always involved getting to do things with my older sisters, and most especially if those things involved eating good food. I remember loving days where Mom would organize tea parties or meals that involved everyone assembling their own food, passing bowls and plates of good things around the table until everyone got what they wanted, and could arrange everything the way they wanted. This little recipe is just such a thing to make any day more special!

When to make yogurt breakfast bowls
I recommend a little yogurt buffet like this for any special morning – a birthday, a wedding day, or… honestly, just a day off. Sometimes you need to make special days of ordinary ones, and this is a great way to do it!
Why you’ll love this recipe
While there isn’t really a “recipe” for making these (they are the result of a buffet, after all), the idea is great, fully customizable, and you can make them easily for any occasion. Here are a few reasons that I know you’ll enjoy these bowls.
Easy to prepare
The hardest thing about preparing these breakfast bowls is chopping up the fruit – which, if you’re going with berries, is a moot point anyway! Just collect your prepared ingredients and lay them all out for a beautiful breakfast with friends and family!
Fun to customize
With lots of options for making them your own, these bowls are fun to make exactly suited to the taste of the person enjoying them. Arrange everything on a table, and let your guests go at it however they like.
Healthy breakfast option
I love making these bowls with good quality thick plain yogurt, using only a drizzle of honey and the sweetness of fruit to make these bowls a little sweeter. In addition to being low sugar, these healthy breakfast bowls are packed with the probiotic power of yogurt and all of the natural health benefits of nuts, seeds, and assorted fresh fruit.

Great topping ideas
These bowls are so fun to make and completely customizable. The “recipe” below is just some suggestions based on what I did for these pictures, but you can arrange any of the following (or more!) toppings as a part of your yogurt buffet.
Fruit
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Blackberries
- Raspberries
- Cherries
- Apples
- Pears
- Plums
- Mangos
- Oranges
- Grapefruit
- Kiwi
- Dragon fruit
Nuts/Seeds
- Almonds
- Walnuts
- Pecans
- Cashews
- Pistachios
- Coconut/Coconut shavings
- Sunflower seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Chia seeds
- Pumpkin seeds
- Hemp hearts

Yogurt
I like to use plain, thick Greek yogurt for my own, but if you’re making these for a crowd, consider getting some other simple flavors to try out as well! You can also get something like coconut yogurt as a dairy-free option for this portion.
Granola/Muesli
Homemade granola or muesli can be a very welcome addition to these bowls as well. For granola, I recommend my Fruit and Nut Granola or my Homemade Crunchy Granola with Honey.
For muesli, honestly, my favorite thing is to make that as a separate option, pre-mixed with yogurt as in this recipe. If you just want to offer muesli as a topping, however, you can add raw oats and dried fruit to your spread as well as the nuts and seeds.

You will need:
- Ingredients (see recipe card for inspiration)
- Colander (for washing fruit)
- Sharp knives (for prepping fruit)
- Cutting board (for prepping fruit)
- Dessert bowls or ramekins, for serving
- Spoons, for serving
