This is one of the prettiest smoothie bowls I’ve ever made, so of course, I am super excited to share it with you. Behold, the blueberry blackberry smoothie bowl.

What is a smoothie bowl?

A smoothie bowl is basically a thick, hearty smoothie in a bowl topped with lots of decorative and delicious fruits and nuts or seeds. It’s a smoothie breakfast, gourmet style: So delicious, and completely beautiful.

Are smoothie bowls good for you?

Like just about anything, you can make them good for you or you can make them bad for you. Eating too much of a good thing is never a good thing, and adding things like sugar or sweetened yogurt can create a poor health choice of your smoothie bowl.

As I have made it in this recipe, YES, it’s great for you – and also, so easy to make!

How to get a really thick smoothie bowl

The secret is honestly just using frozen fruit. When I made this particular bowl, some of my fruit was not frozen, so I went ahead and added some ice to give it that frosty texture… But in the end, the smoothie was not as thick as when you make it with frozen fruit. So, make sure your ingredients are frozen- and your smoothie should be thick and delicious.

What is the best time to make a smoothie bowl?

This is honestly one the best breakfasts, but it’s also so great to make (even in mini form) for brunch, for ladies’ nights, or whatever you think would be a good time. These are easy to make, FAST to make, super healthy, and so yummy. So, the best time to make them will be whatever the time is that you choose to make them. I’m pretty convinced you will enjoy it regardless!

Variations to this blueberry blackberry smoothie bowl

This recipe is simple and versatile, and you can make it any number of different ways. Try using coconut or almond milk in place of the yogurt (as a vegan option), or try adding in different fruits if you want as well. If you want to keep the colour the same, opt for fruits that fall into a similar colour palette as blueberries and blackberries.

For a little extra boost, feel free adding collagen or whey protein powder to this recipe!
