Smoothie bowls are so beautiful, don’t you think? When pictures of these delectable bowls of healthy goodness started appearing all over the internet, it wasn’t long before I felt like I had to make one. And so, without further ado, I give you: the strawberry raspberry smoothie bowl.
Isn’t it beautiful? And better than that, it’s also FAST to make. This beautiful bowl of goodness can be on your table ready to eat in just 5 minutes.
What’s a smoothie bowl?
Smoothie bowls are basically just a dolled up smoothie in a bowl, with added decorative fruit, nuts, or seeds to make it more hearty and filling. Smoothie bowls are usually made with a thick, ice-cream-textured smoothie that is best to eat with a spoon.
Are smoothie bowls healthy?
Well, yes! Unless you make them with stuff that isn’t. I suppose you could make them with a less healthy group of ingredients, but as I make them, yes (in moderation, as always), they’re great for you. Probiotic rich yogurt, healthy fruits, and other delicious natural and healthy toppings make for a good time for your body.
How to make a thick smoothie bowl
Frozen fruit is the key. You can always make a smoothie with fresh fruit and ice, but I find that it not only melts faster, it also doesn’t come out with that thick, ice cream like consistency.
Long story short, make sure you’re working with frozen fruit for the best, thickest smoothie you can make!
When to make smoothie bowls
Smoothie bowls are great anytime, but honestly, here’s my best ideas for when to make them. Summertime is always a given for delicious frozen treats.
Make this strawberry raspberry smoothie bowl for:
- Breakfast
- Brunch
- Summertime snacks
- Post-workout snacks
- Girls’ night treats

Other additions/substitutions to smoothie bowls
This strawberry raspberry smoothie bowl recipe is so, so simple to make and just as simple to adjust. Try switching out the types of fruit you use, subbing the yogurt for kefir or coconut milk, or adding collagen or whey protein powder to give this a little extra boost.
Let me know what substitutions or additions you use, and let how it comes out in the comments! I love to hear what creative things other people come up with.

A question for you
Before I give you the recipe, let me ask you a serious question: Have you made yourself a smoothie bowl before? And what do you prefer: a thick smoothie in a bowl with a spoon, or a slightly thinner one in a glass with a straw?
I’m genuinely curious about your answer. I’ll be honest, I’ve pretty much only made these for the joy of the prettiness… but most of the time, I confess, I am more inclined to just pour the mixture into a glass than into a bowl with trimmings. So tell me: What are you more inclined to prepare for yourself? A smoothie in a glass, or a decked out smoothie in a bowl like this? Let me know in the comments!
As always, if you make this recipe, please tag me in your photos on Instagram @naomicakesofficial! I would love to see your beautiful work.
(Not gonna lie, now that I’ve been staring at these pictures, I kinda want to make another one.)
Back soon!
