10 Great Recipes to Make for Father’s Day

Food, Holidays, Recipes / Friday, May 24th, 2024

Ok guys, right on the heels of my list of ideas for Mother’s Day comes this list of 10 great recipes for Father’s Day!

When it comes to my dad, the first thing I always think of when it comes to Father’s Day meals is a barbecue. Lots of meat, burgers and what-have-you, with a bunch of great salads, sides and desserts to go along with or follow the meal. I also think of bacon; more so, if I’m honest, because of my husband than my dad, whose love languages are probably summed up in ice cream and bacon.

About this list of recipes for Father’s Day

This list will reflect all of the items listed above, starting with a bacon and egg quiche tart, and finishing with my own twist on an ice cream banana split (complete with homemade strawberry sauce)! Each item will be listed with a link to the recipe, a photo of the the food itself, a brief description of what it is and what makes it so great. Then finally, I’ve included a list of the things you will need (including groceries!) to make it.

I hope that from this list you will find lots of good ideas or inspiration for what to make your own dad or husband for Father’s Day. Let’s cook some good food for these special men in our lives!

#1 – Bacon and Cheddar Quiche Tarts

This recipe is simple, delicious, and best of all– it can be prepared the night before to bake fresh in the morning! Nothing beats a buttery pastry filled with egg, bacon, and white cheddar cheese; am I right? Start your Father’s Day off right with this recipe for savoury and delicious quiche tarts.

You Will Need:

#2 – Cucumber Cups with Basil Pesto Filling

If your family is like mine, getting the whole clan together for a meal can get a bit hectic. That said, having something snacky on hand to serve right away is a great option to tie everyone over while you put the last minute touches on your meal.

These cucumber cups are pretty to look at and simple to make, and again– best of all, they can be made ahead!

You Will Need:

#3 – Pesto Caprese Salad

Summer barbecues are always best, in my opinion, served with a variety of fresh salads on the side. This Pesto Caprese Salad is a deliciously fresh, light, and savoury; a great option to complement any spread. If you need more recipes for Father’s Day this year, consider this one for your table!

You Will Need:

#4 – Easy Quinoa Tabouleh

Here’s another salad idea for your Father’s Day dinner spread: Quinoa tabouleh. This Middle Eastern style recipe is bursting with the fresh flavours of parsley, mint and lemon. It’s one of my favourite summer salads, and it’s such a fantastic way to add fresh, delicious vegetables to your diet!

You Will Need:

#5 – Grilled Eggplant with Fresh Garlic & Parsley

Ready for summer grilling? This eggplant recipe is one of the simplest and best recipes ever, perfect to serve on the side of your Father’s Day barbecue!

You Will Need:

#6 – Cheesy Pull-Apart Garlic Bread

This is one of those recipes that you will always want to find an excuse to make, so I say – Let Father’s Day be the day! This homemade bread is packed with the flavours of garlic butter, cheese, and other fresh trimmings. Serve this as a fantastic starter for any meal!

You Will Need:

#7 – Basic White Bread Rolls

Homemade burger buns, anyone? These bread rolls are great to be served alongside dinner with butter, as homemade burger buns, or… I’ll let you in on a secret: this recipe divides perfectly into 16 hot dog buns as well. It’s the best all-purpose, easy bread roll recipe you’ll find!

You Will Need:

#8 – Homemade Macaroni & Cheese

This macaroni and cheese is the ultimate comfort food and the best side to a pulled pork dinner. Top this with a load of freshly grated cheddar cheese and throw it in the oven, just until its melted, for the ultimate cheesy experience! Just remember: This is best served fresh and creamy. If you want to prepare ahead, don’t mix the sauce with the pasta until it’s been heated through– and right before you serve it.

You Will Need:

#9 – Soft & Crispy Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Made with whole wheat flour, these chocolate chip cookies are thin, crispy, chewy, and soft in the middle. They have a slightly nutty, vanilla scented flavour and are packed with chunks of good chocolate!

These cookies look best made with chocolate chunks rather than chocolate chips (throw a couple of extra on top to make them extra appealing), and if the father you want to honour this Father’s Day is anything like my husband… he might just eat the whole batch in one sitting.

Serve these cookies warm with a glass of cold milk.

You Will Need:

#10 – Banana Splits

This recipe had to go on here because there is nothing that says “I love you” to my husband like a mountain of good ice cream, topped with all the best things. I am a baker, and I could make him the most extravagant dessert on the planet, yet… it still wouldn’t offer him quite as much joy as a tub of his favourite ice cream.

So, if you’re looking for something simple and impressive this Father’s Day, remember: Sometimes ice cream is the perfect thing!
