Ok guys, right on the heels of my list of ideas for Mother’s Day comes this list of 10 great recipes for Father’s Day!
When it comes to my dad, the first thing I always think of when it comes to Father’s Day meals is a barbecue. Lots of meat, burgers and what-have-you, with a bunch of great salads, sides and desserts to go along with or follow the meal. I also think of bacon; more so, if I’m honest, because of my husband than my dad, whose love languages are probably summed up in ice cream and bacon.
About this list of recipes for Father’s Day
This list will reflect all of the items listed above, starting with a bacon and egg quiche tart, and finishing with my own twist on an ice cream banana split (complete with homemade strawberry sauce)! Each item will be listed with a link to the recipe, a photo of the the food itself, a brief description of what it is and what makes it so great. Then finally, I’ve included a list of the things you will need (including groceries!) to make it.
I hope that from this list you will find lots of good ideas or inspiration for what to make your own dad or husband for Father’s Day. Let’s cook some good food for these special men in our lives!

#7 – Basic White Bread Rolls
Homemade burger buns, anyone? These bread rolls are great to be served alongside dinner with butter, as homemade burger buns, or… I’ll let you in on a secret: this recipe divides perfectly into 16 hot dog buns as well. It’s the best all-purpose, easy bread roll recipe you’ll find!

This macaroni and cheese is the ultimate comfort food and the best side to a pulled pork dinner. Top this with a load of freshly grated cheddar cheese and throw it in the oven, just until its melted, for the ultimate cheesy experience! Just remember: This is best served fresh and creamy. If you want to prepare ahead, don’t mix the sauce with the pasta until it’s been heated through– and right before you serve it.

- Milk
- Evaporated milk
- Salt
- Pepper

#9 – Soft & Crispy Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Made with whole wheat flour, these chocolate chip cookies are thin, crispy, chewy, and soft in the middle. They have a slightly nutty, vanilla scented flavour and are packed with chunks of good chocolate!
These cookies look best made with chocolate chunks rather than chocolate chips (throw a couple of extra on top to make them extra appealing), and if the father you want to honour this Father’s Day is anything like my husband… he might just eat the whole batch in one sitting.
Serve these cookies warm with a glass of cold milk.
You Will Need:
- Butter
- Sugar
- Molasses
- Vanilla
- Eggs
- Salt
- Baking soda
- All purpose flour
- Whole Wheat flour
- Dark chocolate, chopped into chunks

- Measuring cups and spoons
- Spatula
- Cookie scoop (optional)
- Cutting board
- Quality chef’s knife
- Parchment paper
- Baking sheets
- Cooling rack
#10 – Banana Splits
This recipe had to go on here because there is nothing that says “I love you” to my husband like a mountain of good ice cream, topped with all the best things. I am a baker, and I could make him the most extravagant dessert on the planet, yet… it still wouldn’t offer him quite as much joy as a tub of his favourite ice cream.
So, if you’re looking for something simple and impressive this Father’s Day, remember: Sometimes ice cream is the perfect thing!
You Will Need:
- Dark chocolate melting wafers
- Italian wafer cookies
- Sprinkles
- Heat proof squeeze bottle or piping bag
- Wax or parchment paper
- Glass serving dishes or banana boats
- Ripe bananas
- 2-3 different kinds of ice cream (your choice)
- A good quality ice cream scoop
- Strawberry sauce (See my homemade recipe for the best results!)
- Caramel sauce
- Chopped almonds
- Spray whipped cream (I used Cool Whip in a can)
- Fresh or maraschino cherries
I hope this list has provided you with lots of good ideas and inspiration! If anything from this list makes it into your Father’s Day spread, let me know in the comments or tag me in your photos on Instagram @naomicakesofficial. I love to see what you guys are making!
Happy Father’s Day (a little early), and I’ll see you again soon!
